A Parent’s Guide to Routine Primary Care for Kids

Children’s healthcare includes more than treating colds. Regular well-child visits create opportunities to discuss growth, developmental milestones, school, sleep, nutrition, and age-appropriate preventive care.

Keep vaccination questions on your list

Your child’s clinician can review recommended immunizations based on age, health history, and current guidance. Bring your child’s vaccine record and ask about any doses that may be due.

Talk about everyday concerns

Questions about picky eating, activity, allergies, sleep routines, or changes in behavior are appropriate topics for a primary care visit. You do not need to wait for a major concern to start the conversation.

Make sick visits less stressful

Knowing where to turn when a child develops symptoms can make care easier to navigate. Keep a current list of medications and allergies, and ask your care team when symptoms should be evaluated.

Understand family membership options

At Midwest Medical, children under 18 can be enrolled for $35 per month with an enrolled parent or guardian. The $240 monthly family membership covers two adults and up to three children under 18 in the same household. Ask the team about what is included and any separate charges.
